Postdoctoral position in neuroscience

Stiftung caesar - Bonn
Biologie, Naturwissenschaften, Mathematik, Physik

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. J.D. Seelig, in the Max Planck Research Group Neural Circuits. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist interested in studying the role of neural network function across behavioral states in health and disease. The candidate will utilize modern two-photon imaging, optogenetics, and electrophysiology techniques to investigate neural population activity at cellular resolution in behaving animals, particularly fruit flies and/or mice. We expect the candidate to be capable of independently designing and executing targeted research experiments that further the project aims. More information can be found at our homepage.

Education/Experience: We are looking for candidates with a strong quantitative background in neuroscience and/or biophysics. PhD graduates from related fields (such as physics, engineering or chemistry) are also encouraged to apply. Proficiency in programming languages and the willingness to hone programming skills is preferred.

Caesar is certified by audit berufundfamilie.

Angaben zum Unternehmen

Caesar is a Neuroscience research institute associated with the Max Planck Society and is located in Bonn. Caesar’s research is interdisciplinary with scientists from various research areas working together on the topics of cellular signal processing and the neural foundations of behavior. This ranges from studying the behavior of single-cell organisms to studying one of the key questions of neuroscience: how does neuronal activity give rise to complex and goal-directed behavior?
Caesar is committed to diversity and inclusion and is aiming to increase the percentage of women in areas where they are under-represented. We therefore explicitly encourage women to apply.
Handicapped persons with comparable qualifications receive preferential status.
